As
you know by now, every business in the US needs to prove that they are
PCI compliant. The manner in which this is done is by filling out a
questionnaire attesting to your compliance. However, there are those out
there that are using PCI as a cover for a scam.
Quick Tip:
If
you get a letter from someone claiming that your credit card terminal
is not PCI compliant and to call an 800 number, DON'T. Rather, call me
at 1-877-500-PHIL (7445).
It has come to my attention that there are companies out there sending letters and calling merchants
claiming that their terminal is no longer PCI compliant, even
providing a list of terminals that fall under their claim. The reality
is that if you call the 800 number and receive a new terminal, you most
likely just switched processors without evening knowing it and could
be caught in a long term contract with a devastating termination fee.
The
processors I work with ensures that all of the programming downloaded
into its terminals is PCI Compliant. The check and balance comes from
the processor who builds the file. There are very few terminals in the
marketplace that are non-compliant. Any potentially non-compliant terminal would have been manufactured over 10 years ago.
Quick Tip:
Always contact me Phil Herrington at 1-877-500-PHIL (7445) in regarding any unsolicited request to make any change to your terminal.
